Toying Around Reviews - MOTU Masterverse Revelations: Skelegod

MASTERS OF THE UNIVERSE MASTERVERSE:

REVELATIONS SKELEGOD

In honor of part 2 of MOTU Revelations coming out on Netflix today, we will be taking a look at Skelegod from the new MOTU Masterverse line from Mattel. This line is rumored to be a legacy line that will feature charters from the He-Man multiverse. So far the 1st two waves are all figures from the new Kevin Smith Netflix show. This figure itself is more of a deluxe-type figure.

Masterverse is an exciting new line of Masters of the Universe® action figures, and its first wave celebrates the release of a thrilling Masters of the Universe® reboot: the Netflix animated series, Revelation!

PACKAGING:

Before we open this up, let's take a look at the packaging.

The Masterverse box is a nice size angled box, at the top, it tells you the figure has 30 points of articulation. Below that we have a big window that showcases the figure and the accessories, this box is just a little larger than the normal figure boxes as Skelegod is a bigger figure himself. To the right of the window, we have a little Netflix flag, this is to let us know that this figure is based on his look from the Netflix show. At the bottom of the box, we have the Masters of the Universe Revelation logo, below that we have Skelegod’s name.

Turning the box to the side we have Skelegod’s name. The side of the box also lets us know that he is the “COSMIC LORD OF DESTRUCTION”.

On the back of the box, we have some amazing artwork of Skelegod. Next to the artwork, we have a bio, “Skeletor lives his life with a singular purpose - to control the unlimited powers of the entire universe. Time after time the bane of Eternia was thwarted by He-Man and the heroic warriors. What kind of monster would be unleashed should they be unable to stop the Lord of Destruction? Surely a raging storm of horror and terror even the bravest dare not even imagine…” Below that we have pictures of the rest of the figures in this wave. Battle Cat, He-Man, Moss Man, Skeletor, and Evil-Lyn.

Turning the box around one more time we have some more artwork of Man-At-Arms.

OUTSIDE OF THE BOX:

Let's open the box and take a closer look at the figure.

Taking Skelegod out of the box he does look pretty close from the little bit we have seen from him at the end of the first half of season 1. The added clear green plastic works well on the figure and makes it look like it is a green fire. I also do like the fabric cape that he has on the back. The cape itself is also attached with magnets so it can go on and comes off very easily and wont get in the way.

ACCESSORIES:

Let's see what kind of accessories the figure comes with.

SKELEGOD COMES WITH:

Left and Right Open Hands

Left and Right Gripping Hands

Flame Punch

The Sword of Power

ARTICULATION:

How can we pose the figure? Let's find out!

SKELEGOD’S ARTICULATION INCLUDES THE FOLLOWING:

DUMBBELL JOINTED NECK:

allows you to turn the head 360 degrees.

BALL HINGED SHOULDERS:

It gives the arm 360-degree rotation and also the ability to raise and lower the arm.

UPPER BICEP SWIVEL:

This cut lets you turn the whole arm below the cut 360 degrees.

DOUBLE-JOINTED ELBOWS:

This allows you to bend the arm past 90 degrees.

SWIVEL HINGE WRISTS:

It allows you to turn his wrists in a full 360-degree circle while also bending them up and down.

DIAPHRAGM SWIVEL:

This lets you turn the figure around 360 degrees at the diaphragm.

WAIST SWIVEL:

This lets you turn the figure around 360 degrees at the waist.

BALL JOINTED LEGS:

With this it allows the legs to move out to the side along with some front and back motion.

UPPER THIGH SWIVEL:

The leg can rotate around a full 360 degrees.

DOUBLE-JOINTED KNEES:

The joint allows you to bend the leg itself back to the butt of the figure.

BOOT CUT:

This lets you swivel the boot around 360 degrees.

HINGED ANKLES WITH ROCKERS:

The ankle hinge allows you to bend the foot front and back. The rockers will enable you to rock the ankles towards the outside and inside of the legs of the figure.

SIZE COMPARISON:

How does the size of this figure compare to others?

Skelegod stands right around the 8-inch mark

Here is Skelegod standing next to Skeletor and He-Man from this Masterverse line.

RATING:

What are Baby Huey's scores for the figure?

PAINT JOB 5/5

This figure does have a lot of paint and it works very well. The paint on the figure itself is very well placed.

FIGURE SCULPT 5/5

The sculpt of Skelegod seems to be very spot on from what we have seen of him in the show

POSING 3.5/5

The figure does suffer from the soft plastic that most of wave 1 had. The arms and ankles are very floppy and can be hard to pose and stand sometimes.

ACCESSORIES: 5/5

since at the time of me typing this we haven’t really seen him in the show, I would say he came with a lot. I’m not really sure what else he would need.

DURABILITY 3/5

The soft plastic that this figure and most of wave 1 have does make me wonder how they will stand up over time.

OVERALL SCORE 4.3/5

If this figure came out when wave 2 came out with the harder plastic then he would be a 5 all the way.

RETAIL COST: $26.99

I picked mine up at my local TARGET!
