Toying Around Reviews - Marvel Legends Retro 3.75-inch: Vision

Marvel Legends Retro 3.75-inch

Vision

Today we will be taking a look at the Vision from the new retro-style Marvel Legends 3.75 inch line. This new line is more of a throwback/what-if line to see what could have been if Kenner had the Marvel line back in the 80s/90s.

The Marvel Legends Series is a lower-tier toy line that both collectors and non-collectors alike would be interested in. This is an action figure line based on the characters of Marvel Comics, initially produced by Toy Biz, then by Hasbro. This line is in the 6-inch (150 mm) scale, with spin-off lines in the 4-inch (100 mm), 8-inch (200 mm), and 12-inch (300 mm) scale. these figures tend to look good inside and outside the box.

PACKAGING:

Before we open this up, let's take a look at the packaging.

All the figures in this 3.75-inch line come in on a blister card. Vision’s card has the Marvel Legends logo at the top left, while The Avengers logo is just below that on the left side of the card. A very 80s style artwork of Iron Man takes up the rest of the card back on the right side. Vision himself can be seen in the blister bubble.

Turning the card to the side we can get a good look at the Vision from the side

On the back of the card, we get the same Ant-Man artwork that you can cut out for a collector card, along with a small bio. “Built by man, but forged by fate, the amazing android Vision will fight for good before it’s too late!”

On the other side of the card, we again see Vision from the side. These side views are helpful for any collector that wishes to keep his figure mint on the card.

OUTSIDE OF THE BOX:

Let's open the box and take a closer look at the figure.

Taking Vision off the card we can see that base of the figure is more or less the same base as the rest of the figures in this line. Most of the figures will be the same body, with just different paint and heads. For this line, it works because this is how toys were made in the 80s and 90s to save on cost. My copy of Vision unfortunately has a little bit of paint messed up on his right leg.

ACCESSORIES:

NONE!

ARTICULATION:

How can we pose the figure? Let's find out!

VISION’S ARTICULATION INCLUDES THE FOLLOWING:

MUSHROOM PEGGED NECK

allows you to turn the head 360-degrees.

MUSHROOM PEGGED SHOULDERS

This gives the arm 360-degree rotation.

MUSHROOM PEGGED WRISTS

This allows you to turn his wrists a full 360-degree around.

MUSHROOM PEGGED LEGS

This allows the legs to move back and forth

SIZE COMPARISON:

How does the size of this figure compare to others?

Vision stands right at 3.75 inches tall

Here is Vision standing next to Iron Man and Captain America from this same line.

RATING:

What are Baby Huey's scores for the figure?

PAINT JOB 4.5/5

The paint job looks really good, the only issue I have is that paint mess up on top of the leg.

FIGURE SCULPT 4.5/5

The sculpt of the figure works very well for Vision since his costume was very simple back in the day.

POSING 2/5

Now I do understand that this figure is made to look like he was made in the 80s/90s when we didn’t have much articulation, however, you did add in the twists for the gloves so I don’t see why you didn’t also do that with the boots.

ACCESSORIES: 0/5

none!

DURABILITY 3/5

The plastic on the legs is very gummy like and I do feel like over time this will hurt the figure from standing, Vision does have a cape so that will help him stand a little better than the rest of the figures in the line.

OVERALL SCORE 2.8/5

The figures are a nice throwback but these might be better to keep mint on the card.

RETAIL COST: $9.99

I picked mine up from my local TARGET
