Toying Around Reviews - DC Multiverse: Superman: Lois and Clark - Superman

DC Multiverse:

Superman: Lois and Clark - Superman

Today we will be taking a look at Superman from the Superman: Lois and Clark comic. This is the pre-new 52 Superman and how he looked when Lois, John, and himself arrived in the new 52-world after the events of the Convergence storyline.

McFarlane Toys, a subsidiary of Todd McFarlane Productions, is a company founded by comics creator Todd McFarlane which makes highly detailed model figurines of characters from movies, comics, popular music, video games, and various sporting genres.

PACKAGING:

Before we open this up, let's take a look at the packaging.

Starting at the front of the box, we have a nice big window that lets us see the figure and everything he comes with. The top of the box lets us know that the figure has 22 points of articulation. The bottom of the box has the DC Multiverse logo as well as Superman’s name.

Turning the box to the side we have the name of the figure, and where the inspiration for the figure came from.

The back of the box gives us the figure in an action pose, this is the same picture that will be on the trading card inside the box as well as some pictures of some other figures you can collect.

Turning the box around one more time we get a small window that lets us see the figure.

OUTSIDE OF THE BOX:

Let's open the box and take a closer look at the figure.

Taking Superman out of the box we can see that the figure itself looks very good, the suit looks just like it did in the comic book. People might say the outfit is wrong because it has silver boots. They are half right, yes while in the comic itself Clark had on black boots with silver trim, Clark did have on silver boots on the cover to issue #1 and that is where I think Todd took the idea for this figure from.

ACCESSORIES:

Let's see what kind of accessories the figure comes with.

SUPERMAN COMES WITH:

Open (flight) hands

Flight Stand

Trading Card

ARTICULATION:

How can we pose the figure? Let's find out!

SUPERMAN’S ARTICULATION INCLUDES THE FOLLOWING:

DUMBBELL JOINTED NECK:

allows you to turn the head 360 degrees.

BUTTERFLY HING:

This allows you to move the shoulder area front and back to get a better range of motion.

BALL HINGED SHOULDERS:

It gives the arm 360-degree rotation and also the ability to raise and lower the arm.

UPPER BICEP SWIVEL:

This cut lets you turn the whole arm below the cut 360 degrees.

DOUBLE-JOINTED ELBOWS:

This allows you to bend the arm over 90 degrees.

BALL SWIVEL HINGE WRISTS:

With this, you can turn his wrists in a full 360-degree circle while also bending them up and down.

DIAPHRAGM SWIVEL:

This lets you turn the figure around 360 degrees at the diaphragm.

BALL JOINTED WAIST:

This lets you be able to turn the figure around 360 degrees at the waist.

HINGE JOINTED LEGS:

With this it allows the legs to move out to the side along with some front and back motion.

DOUBLE-JOINTED KNEES:

The joint allows you to bend the leg itself back to the butt of the figure.

BALL JOINTED ANKLES:

The ankle hinge allows you to bend the foot front and back and also to the left and right.

TOE JOINT:

This allows you to bend the toes up so you can pose the figure a little better when making him look like he is running or walking.

SIZE COMPARISON:

How does the size of this figure compare to others?

Superman stands right at 7 inches tall

Here is Superman standing next to his comic counterpart from Action Comics #1000 and Superman Reborn (he is a little taller)

RATING:

What are Baby Huey's scores for the figure?

PAINT JOB 5/5

Black and Silver, kind of hard to mess up

FIGURE SCULPT 5/5

The sculpt overall is not that bad and looks really good

POSING 3.5/5

the only main issue with the figure is you really can not get his head looking up for any flight pose

ACCESSORIES: 5/5

flight stand and open hands, not more you can ask for for a Superman figure.

DURABILITY 4/5

Plastic is nice and hard, might be a little too hard in the joints, feel like moving the knees and elbows might eventually break the figure.

OVERALL SCORE 4.5/5

I really do like this Superman figure. If you are a Superman fan or even just a fan of the storyline, you need to pick him up.

RETAIL COST: $19.99

I picked mine up at my local WALMART!
