Toying Around Reviews - DC Multiverse Robin (Damian Wayne)

DC Multiverse - Robin (Damian Wayne)

King Shark Collect and Connect

Today we will be taking a look at the Toys R Us Exclusive Robin figure from the DC Comics Multiverse line. This Robin figure is an extra figure released in the King Shark Collect-and-Connect Wave to add to the already 6 figures that have been released.

The Multiverse line is made by Mattel and is designed to compete with Hasbro's Marvel Legends figures. The lines are said to spread across the whole DC multiverse and offer figures from the Movies, TV and the comics. The lines can be found at any box retail store like Toys R Us, Target or Walmart.

Packaging

Before we open this, let's take a look at the packaging.

Robin comes in the standard red and black packaging that we see with all the Multiverse figures. You have the DC Comics logo at the top left to let you know that this is a comic based figure. The DC Comics Multiverse logo right below that. The figure is clearly displayed in the middle with his accessories displayed for you to see. On the bottom of the box, you have some artwork from the Robin Wars storyline that this figure is based on, with his name and the wave name listed next to him.

The left side of the box shows the Multiverse logo and the DC Comics logo.

Turning the box to the back we have a nice view of the King Shark Collect-and-Connect figure, along with a listing of the rest of the figure need to finish this wave, #1 - Earth-2 Flash, #2 - Zoom, #3- Jim Gordon Batman, #4 - Batgirl, #5 - Hawkman, #6 - The Joker, #7 - Robin

Moving the box around once more to the right side, we have that same Robin picture from before and a short bio listed below. IN THE ROBIN WAR, DAMIAN WAYNE AND OTHERS WORK TO DEFEAT TH EVIL SECRET SOCIETY TOE COURT OF OWLS, WITH RELUCTANT AID FROM JIM GORDAN'S BATMAN.

Outside of the Box:

Let's open the box and take a closer look at Robin.

At fist look at this figure, you can see that this outfit is based more on his 2nd New 52/Rebirth look, with that black cape instead of it being all yellow.

Accessories:

Lets see what kind of accessories Robin come with.

Robin comes with his sword that he always uses, a Court of the Owls mask that he used in the storyline, Robin Wars, and an alternate head for the king Shark Collect-And-Connect figure

Articulation:

How can we pose Robin? Lets find out!

Robin's articulation includes the following:

Mushroom Pegged Head - allows you to swivel the head 360 degrees. The head and hood are one piece

Ball Jointed Shoulders - gives the arm 360-degree rotation and also the ability to raise and lower the arm

Upper Bicep Swivel - allows or 360 degrees at this cut

Singles Jointed Elbows - this allows for a 90-degree bend at the elbow

Swivel Wrists - allows you to turn her wrists in a full 360-degree circle.

Ab Crunch - this cut lets you be able to bend the figure front and back at the Abs.

Waist Swivel - this cut lets you be able to turn the figure around from the waist.

Hinged Legs - with this it allows the legs to move out to the side along with some front and back motion, however, due to the skirt, the limitation of this joint is very limited.

Upper Thigh Swivel - the leg can rotate around a full 360 degrees.

Single Jointed Knees - This joint, although limited, allows you to bend the knee to about 90 degrees.

Hinged Ankles  - The ankle hinge allows you to bend the foot front and back

Size Comparison:

How does this figures size compare to others?

Robin stands just a little under 5.5" tall.

For comparison, we have Robin standing with his father Batman. We also have him standing with someone a little closer to his size, the Marvel Legends Miles Morales Spider-Man.

Rating:

What are Baby Huey's scores for the figure?

Paint Job 3/5

The paint job on this Robin figure is not bad at all. The only real spot I can find anything wrong on my figure is the yellow paint on the cape, on the back some of the paint is a little off the mark. The cape has sculpted lines in it and the paint is a little off the lines, other than that no real issues.

Figure Sculpt 3/5

While I do like the height of the figure, I do feel like Mattel is missing the mark with this body mold. I feel the chest is a little too big for a child-sized figure.

Posing / Durability 3/5

The posing is the same for all the DC Multiverse figures, if they just had a little more articulation they would be a 5/5 but till then

Overall Score 3/5

Overall I do like the figure, an alternate head with the hood down would have been nice, but I am happy to at last have the Son of Batman added to my collection!

Time for some Toying Around!
