Toying Around Reviews - DC Multiverse: Damian Wayne Rebirth Robin

DC Multiverse:

Damian Wayne DC Rebirth Robin

Today we will be taking a look at the DC Multiverse Rebirth Robin. This is based on how Robin looked back in 2016 when DC launched the DC Rebirth era of their comics. At this time Robin was taking change and putting the Teen Titans back together.

McFarlane Toys, a subsidiary of Todd McFarlane Productions, is a company founded by comics creator Todd McFarlane which makes highly detailed model figurines of characters from movies, comics, popular music, video games, and various sporting genres.

PACKAGING:

Before we open this up, let's take a look at the packaging.

On the front of the box, we have a nice big window that lets us see the figure and everything he comes with, including the figure itself, and his accessories. The top of the box lets us know that the figure has 22 points of articulation. The bottom of the box has the DC Multiverse logo as well as Robin’s name.

Turning the box to the side we have the name of the figure, and where the inspiration for the figure came from. This Robin is from the start of the DC Rebirth

The back gives us the artwork from where the inspiration came from, Teen Titans #1. The bottom gives us some artwork for some other figures we can pick up as well.

Turning the box around one more time we get a small window that lets us see the figure.

OUTSIDE OF THE BOX:

Let's open the box and take a closer look at the figure.

Taking Robin out of the box we can get a nice look at the detail on the figure. The colors are nice and bright and pop. The plastic on Robin’s cape almost has a leather look to it, a nice touch. It is a little unfortunate that the yellow underside of the cape is missing.

ACCESSORIES:

Let's see what kind of accessories the figure comes with.

ROBIN COMES WITH:

two shuriken

Sword (named Deathstroke, originally named Scrymgeour)

ARTICULATION:

How can we pose the figure? Let's find out!

ROBIN’S ARTICULATION INCLUDES THE FOLLOWING:

BALL JOINTED NECK

allows you to turn the head 360-degrees.

BALL HINGED SHOULDERS

Gives the arm 360-degree rotation and also the ability to raise and lower the arm.

UPPER BICEP SWIVEL

This cut lets you turn the whole arm below the cut 360-degrees.

SINGLE JOINTED ELBOWS

This allows you to bend the arm about 90-degrees.

SWIVEL BALL HINGE WRISTS

With this cut it allows you to turn his wrists in a full 360-degree circle while also bending them up and down.

AB CRUNCH:

This cut lets you be able to bend the figure front and back at the Abs.

WAIST SWIVEL

This lets you be able to turn the figure around 360 degrees at the waist.

BALL JOINTED LEGS

With this it allows the legs to move out to the side along with some front and back motion.

SINGLE JOINTED KNEES

The joint allows you to bend the leg at 90 degrees.

BALL JOINTED ANKLES

The ankle hinge allows you to bend the foot front and back and also to the left and right.

SIZE COMPARISON:

How does the size of this figure compare to others?

Robin stands right at 6 inches tall

Here is Robin standing with the Mattel Robin and the Detective #1000 Batman

RATING:

What are Baby Huey's scores for the figure?

PAINT JOB 4/5

Just about every McFarlane figure has a ton of paint on them, and this Robin is no exception. The paint on him is very crisp and clean as well. The figure is only missing yellow on the inside of the cape.

FIGURE SCULPT 5/5

The overall Sculpt of Robin is very well done. He looks likes how he does in the Teen Titans comics

POSING 3/5

If this figure had double-jointed knees and elbows he would be the perfect robin. Robin should be acrobatic and able to get into any pose you want, now while you can get him in a ton of different poses the lack of double joints does hurt that a little bit.

ACCESSORIES: 4/5

Robin comes with some throwing stars, but a bat-a-rang or robin one would have been nice, Robin also uses a bow staff. Just a few extra or different things would have made this a home run.

DURABILITY 5/5

I will say McFarlane’s plastic is normally something you have to worry about. Yes, there are reports of figures breaking but they are far and few in between that it isn’t something you need to worry about when picking one up.

OVERALL SCORE 4.2/5

I’m glad to finally have a Robin for my new Multiverse collection. Just a few extra things here and there and he would be perfect.

RETAIL COST: $19.99

I picked mine up at my local Mashko Collectables
