Toying Around Reviews - NECA: TMNT Target Two Pack - Rocksteady

N.E.C.A. TMNT TARGET TWO-PACK ROCKSTEADY

For today’s review, we are going to be taking a look at the Target exclusive Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Bebop. This is based on how Rocksteady looked in the 90s cartoon.

The National Entertainment Collectibles Association or NECA is an American manufacturer of collectibles typically licensed from films, video-games, sports, music, and television that is based in New Jersey. The company was founded in 1996 and has over 60 licenses for which it produces products.

PACKAGING:

Before we open this up, let's take a look at the packaging

Bebop and Rocksteady come in the same two-pack that the rest of the figures come in. The top of the box has Bebop and Rocksteady’s name at the top. Bebop and Rocksteady are displayed in the middle. The bottom has some artwork of both Bebop and Rocksteady.

Turning the box to the side you get a nice look at Bebop in an action pose.

The back of the box gives you a little back story on the turtles, After being accidentally exposed to radioactive ooze, four ordinary household pets are transformed into a band of wisecracking, pizza-loving, villain-dicing adolescent reptiles! Meet Leonardo the super-cool, sword-wielding leader… Raphael, the jokester, hurling manholes and one-liners in rapid succession… Donatello, the brain behind the brawn… and Michelangelo, the ice cream, pizza gobbling party animal. Whether it’s facing fierce enemies or saving humanity from near extinction, with the guidance of their sensei, these heroes in a Half Shell are always ready for straight outta the sewer action! Below that you get a look at the other 3 two-packs, to the left we get a look at Bebop and Rocksteady.

Turning the box to the other side you have a nice look at Rocksteady in an action pose.

OUTSIDE OF THE BOX:

Let's open the box and take a closer look at the figure.

Taking Rocksteady out of the box we get a really good look at him, The paint and style they used on him, makes him look like he came right out of the cartoon. While looking at him though, you can see that his one strap on his left side is broken, he came out of the box like this.

ACCESSORIES:

Let's see what kind of accessories the figure comes with.

ROCKSTEADY COMES WITH:

Left and right open Hands

Right gun holding hand

How can we pose the figure? Let's find out!

ROCKSTEADY’S ARTICULATION INCLUDES THE FOLLOWING:

BALL HINGED SHOULDERS:

gives the arm 360-degree rotation and also the ability to raise and lower the arm.

UPPER BICEP SWIVEL:

This cut lets you turn the whole arm below the cut 360-degrees.

DOUBLE JOINTED ELBOWS:

This allows you to bend the arm over 90-degrees.

SWIVEL HINGED WRISTS:

This allows you to turn his wrists in a full 360-degree circle while also bending them up and down.

WAIST SWIVEL:

This lets you be able to turn the figure around 360 degrees at the waist.

BALL JOINTED LEGS:

With this it allows the legs to move out to the side along with some front and back motion.

DOUBLE JOINTED KNEES:

This joint allows you to bend the leg itself back to the butt of the figure.

BOOT CUT:

Lets you swivel the boot around 360 degrees.

ANKLE SWIVELS:

The ankle swivel lets you turn the feet a full 360 degrees.

SIZE COMPARISON:

How does the size of this figure compare to others?

Rocksteady stands right around the 6.5-inch mark.

Here is Rocksteady standing next to Master Shredder and Bebop.

RATING:

What are Baby Huey's scores for the figure?

PAINT JOB 5/5

The paint on Bebop is very well done. It looks like he came right out of the cartoon so I can’t complain about anything.

FIGURE SCULPT 5/5

The sculpt is perfect, like the paint, it makes him look like he came right out of the cartoon.

POSING 4/5

Trying to pose the figure can be a little hard sometimes. Like with Bebop, some thigh swivels would have gone a long way with him.

ACCESSORIES: 5/5

Rocksteady comes with extra hands and his guns, I don’t know what else I would ask for.

DURABILITY 3/5

The figure itself is very hard to move, I feel like when I’m moving him into a pose that I’m going to break or snap something off. The rubber they used for his straps is also very soft, and I feel it will break down and snap over time, mine already came out of the box broken.

OVERALL SCORE 4.4/5

Rocksteady is just about perfect, the only issue is, the plastic and it feeling like it’s going to snap on me sometimes. If you are going to be moving the figure make sure you warm it up with some hot water or a hairdryer first.

RETAIL COST: $49.99

I picked mine up at my local TARGET.
