Toying Around Reviews - Ghostbuster Plasma Series: Peter Venkman

Ghostbuster Plasma Series:

Peter Venkman

Today we will be taking a look at Peter Venkman from the brand new Plasma series from Hasbro.

Collectors can imagine slimy struggles and eerie ecto-encounters from the Ghostbusters Universe with figures from the Ghostbusters Plasma Series! Featuring premium design, detailing, and articulation, this highly poseable collection of action figures embodies the quality and realism Ghostbusters fans are looking to trap. The Ghostbusters Plasma Series includes figures and vehicles from the Ghostbusters entertainment.

PACKAGING:

Before we open this up, let's take a look at the packaging.

Peter comes in what is the standard box for this new Plasma Series

The front of the box Has the word GHOSTBUSTERS running down the left side of the box, Peter and all his accessories are displayed in the middle of the box. The GHOSTBUSTERS Ghost logo is at the bottom with Peter’s name. The background of the box is made to look like the suit for all Ghostbusters.

Turning the box to the side we have some artwork of each of the four Ghostbusters.

On the back of the box we have a little bio for Peter, THE MAN WITH THE MOUTH: PETER CAN CONVINCE (ALMOST) ANYBODY OF (ALMOST) ANYTHING. in the middle of the box, we have the rest of the lineup, PETER VENKMAN, RAY STANTZ, EGON SPENGLER, WINSTON ZEDDEMORE, DANA BARRETT, GOZER. we also have a picture of the VINZ CLORTHO Build A Figure.

Turning the box around one more time we have a little bit of the window wrapping around so we can see the figure from the side. This is a nice touch for any collector that wants to keep the figure mint inbox.

OUTSIDE OF THE BOX:

Let's open the box and take a closer look at the figure.

Taking Peter out of the box, it looks like Hasbro pretty much nailed the Ghostbusters outfit. I would say the figure itself could have been a little better if the plastic was a little darker or had a wash over it. The 3D printed Peter face isn’t that bad, looks like Bill Murray.

ACCESSORIES:

Let's see what kind of accessories the figure comes with.

PETER COMES WITH:

Proton Pack

Ghost Trap

Vinz Clortho back Left leg

ARTICULATION:

How can we pose the figure? Let's find out!

PEter’S ARTICULATION INCLUDES THE FOLLOWING:

BALL JOINTED NECK

allows you to turn the head 360-degrees.

BALL HINGED SHOULDERS

Gives the arm 360-degree rotation and also the ability to raise and lower the arm.

UPPER BICEP SWIVEL

This cut lets you turn the whole arm below the cut 360-degrees.

DOUBLE JOINTED ELBOWS:

This allows you to bend the arm over 90-degrees.

SWIVEL HINGE WRISTS:

It allows you to turn his wrists in a full 360-degree circle while also bending them up and down.

WAIST SWIVEL

This lets you be able to turn the figure around 360 degrees at the waist.

BALL JOINTED LEGS

With this it allows the legs to move out to the side along with some front and back motion.

DOUBLE JOINTED KNEES

The joint allows you to bend the leg itself back to the butt of the figure.

BALL JOINTED ANKLES

The ankle hinge allows you to bend the foot front and back and also to the left and right.

SIZE COMPARISON:

How does the size of this figure compare to others?

Peter stands just below the 6-inch mark.

Here is Peter standing next to the older Peter from CLASSIC LINE from back in 2016. If you want to read that review you can click HERE.

RATING:

What are Baby Huey's scores for the figure?

PAINT JOB 3/5

Overall there isn’t much paint for the figure. The suit could benefit from a black wash. The proton pack has a little bit of paint but hey more is always better.

FIGURE SCULPT 4/5

The sculpt is well done and does really look like Bill.

POSING 4/5

The figure is good articulation, but the only thing holding it back from being perfect is the ab crunch, or should I say the lack of one.

ACCESSORIES: 4/5

The ghost trap is a nice touch but some effects for the proton pack would have made it a home run.

DURABILITY 5/5

Plastic is strong and the joints don’t feel like they will brake down anytime soon.

OVERALL SCORE 4/5

This new line is solid, if you didn’t get the original ones from Mattel I’d say pick them up, if you do have them you might be able to pass on them.

RETAIL COST: $21.99

You can pick yours up from MASHKO COLLECTABLES.
