Toying Around Reviews - Disney Mirrorverse: Buzz Lightyear (7-inch)

Disney Mirrorverse:

Buzz Lightyear

Today we are taking a look at Buzz Lightyear from the new Disney Mirrorverse line from McFarlane Toys. Disney Mirrorverse is an upcoming crossover mobile role-playing game. The game features evolved and amplified versions of Disney and Pixar characters and combine RPG with combat and fighting gameplay.

McFarlane Toys, a subsidiary of Todd McFarlane Productions, is a company founded by comics creator Todd McFarlane which makes highly detailed model figurines of characters from movies, comics, popular music, video games, and various sporting genres.

PACKAGING:

Before we open this up, let's take a look at the packaging.

Buzz comes back in what has been the typical sized box for McFarlane Toys 7 inch scale figures.

The front of the box has a large Disney Mirrorverse logo at the top, Buzz is displayed in the middle of the box with his name at the bottom. Next to his name is “Ranged” as Buzz will be a ranged attack type player in the video game.

Turning the box around we get some CGI artwork of buzz, this is how he will look in the game. At the bottom, we again have his name with ranged, letting us know he is a ranged attack player.

On the back of the box, we have some nice artwork of some more upcoming figures, do you have any guesses on who else might be coming to the line? Below the picture, we have a list of some of the already known figures. We have two versions of Jack Sparrow. The bottom of the box lets us know you can get the game on IOS or android.

Moving the box around one more time we get some more CGI artwork of Buzz.

OUTSIDE OF THE BOX:

Let's open the box and take a closer look at the figure.

Taking Buzz out of the box we can get a good look at him. My figure does have a few paint issues, on his left side, the green at the top has some white paint. His left arm has some purple missing around the knuckles and then on his right shoulder, there is some white paint as well. QC issues aside, the figure does look like how he does in the game.

ACCESSORIES:

Let's see what kind of accessories the figure comes with.

BUZZ COMES WITH:

His wings

Trading Card

Stand

ARTICULATION:

How can we pose the figure? Let's find out!

BUZZ’S ARTICULATION INCLUDES THE FOLLOWING:

MUSHROOM JOINTED NECK

allows you to turn the head 360-degrees.

BALL HINGED SHOULDERS

Gives the arm 360-degree rotation and also the ability to raise and lower the arm.

UPPER BICEP SWIVEL

This cut lets you turn the whole arm below the cut 360-degrees.

SINGLE JOINTED ELBOWS

This allows you to bend the arm about 90-degrees.

SWIVEL BALL HINGE WRISTS

It allows you to turn his wrists in a full 360-degree circle while also bending them up and down.

AB SWIVEL:

This cut lets you be able to bend the figure front and back at the Abs.

WAIST SWIVEL

This lets you be able to turn the figure around 360 degrees at the waist.

BALL JOINTED LEGS

With this it allows the legs to move out to the side along with some front and back motion.

SINGLE-JOINTED KNEES

The joint allows you to bend the leg itself back to the butt of the figure.

BALL JOINTED ANKLES

The ankle hinge allows you to bend the foot front and back and also to the left and right.

SIZE COMPARISON:

How does the size of this figure compare to others?

Here is our new Buzz standing next to Batman, also by McFarlane Toys

Next, we have Buzz standing next to End Game Captain America and Buzz from the Disney Toy Box line.

RATING:

What are Baby Huey's scores for the figure?

PAINT JOB 3.5/5

My figure does have some major paint QC issues, I hope this isn’t a line-wide issue.

FIGURE SCULPT 5/5

The sculpt of the figure is very well done. He looks like he came right out of the video game

POSING 3.5/5

some other QC issues my figure has is that there are a few loose joints, thankfully he comes with a stand, but a few of the pictures were hard to take just because he had a hard time standing. I hope some floor polish will fix the issue.

ACCESSORIES: 3/5

I mean what is Buzz without his wings, but from what we have seen in the game videos Buzz will have some guns and blasters, a few of them would have been nice.

DURABILITY 3.5/5

With the joints already being loose out of the box, I do worry about how he will hold up over time.

OVERALL SCORE 3.7/5

If they can fix the QC issues the figure is a home run.

RETAIL COST: $19.99

I picked mine up at my local TARGET.
