Toying Around Reviews - Power Rangers Lightning Collection: Blue Zeo Ranger

Power Rangers Lightning Collection:

Blue Zeo Ranger

Today we will be taking a look at the Blue Ranger from Power Rangers Zeo.

Power Rangers Zeo is the 4th season of Power Rangers franchise, based on the Super Sentai series Chōriki Sentai Ohranger. It is the continuation of Mighty Morphin Power Rangers, which aired in 1996, it picks up right where the events of the finale of Mighty Morphin Power Rangers ended. He is where we see Rocky the Red Power Ranger become Zeo Range 3 Blue.

The Lightning Collection is the new adult collector line from Hasbro. Hasbro took over the Power Rangers line from Bandai this year. This new Lightning Collection line should fit in nicely with the Marvel Legends and Star Wars Black Series since they are all now made by Hasbro.

PACKAGING:

Before we open this up, let's take a look at the packaging.

Blue Ranger comes in the standard box for the Lightning Collection by Hasbro. Its a rectangle style box that has the Blue Ranger displayed in the middle with all his accessories. To the right is some artwork of the Blue Ranger. Below we have the Power Rangers Lightning Collection logo along with the name of the figure.

Turning the box around we see that the artwork from the front of the box is wrapping around to this side.

The back of the box only shows the promo picture for the figure. This line does not show any other figures from the line nor a bio for the figure.

Turning the box around one more time we see we have another look at that same artwork from the front.

OUTSIDE OF THE BOX:

Let's open the box and take a closer look at the figure.

Taking the Blue Ranger out of the box we can see that Hasbro did a very nice job on him. Paint overall seems clean and the suit itself looks just how it should.

ACCESSORIES:

Let's see what kind of accessories the figure comes with.

BLUE RANGER COMES WITH:

Rocky alt head

two closed fisted hands

Zeo Blaster

Zeo Power Sword

Blast effect for the sword

ARTICULATION:

How can we pose the figure? Let's find out!

BLUE RANGER’S ARTICULATION INCLUDES THE FOLLOWING:

HINGED BALL JOINTED NECK:

allows you to swivel the head 360-degrees and tilt the head back and forth.

BUTTERFLY HING:

This allows you to move the shoulder area front and back to get a better range of motion.

BALL HINGED SHOULDERS:

Gives the arm 360-degree rotation and also the ability to raise and lower the arm.

DOUBLE JOINTED ELBOWS:

This allows you to bend the arm back to have the hands near the shoulders.

SWIVEL HINGE WRISTS:

It allows you to turn his wrists in a full 360-degree circle while also bending them up and down.

DIAPHRAGM SWIVEL:

This lets you be able to turn the figure around 360 degrees at the diaphragm.

AB CRUNCH:

This cut lets you be able to bend the figure front and back at the Abs, Where most Ab Crunches let you bend the figure at the top of the abs this one is different as the crunch at the bottom, more at the belt of the figure.

BALL JOINTED LEGS:

With this it allows the legs to move out to the side along with some front and back motion.

UPPER THIGH SWIVEL:

The leg can rotate around a full 360 degrees.

DOUBLE JOINTED KNEES:

The joint allows you to bend the leg itself back to the butt of the figure.

BOOT CUT:

Lets you swivel the boot around 360 degrees.

HINGED ANKLES WITH ROCKERS:

The ankle hinge allows you to bend the foot front and back. The rockers allow you to rock the ankles towards the outside and inside of the legs of the figure.

SIZE COMPARISON:

How does the size of this figure compare to others?

Blue Ranger stands right at 6 inches tall.

Here is the Blue Ranger standing next to the 80 years Iron Man and Lord Drakkon

RATING:

What are Baby Huey's scores for the figure?

PAINT JOB 4.5/5

The paint job overall is very well done, it is hard to mess up when you only have 3 colors. My only real issue with the paint is on the sword. It is rubbing off way to easy on the handle.

FIGURE SCULPT 5/5

The sculpt is again very well done. Hasbro got lucky with Power Rangers, as about 90% of they will make will use the same arms, legs, feet, and hands.

POSING 5/5

Just about every pose I would like to get the Blue Ranger in can be done. Do not have any complaints at all.

ACCESSORIES: 3.5/5

My big issue with this figure is that he doesn’t come with the collapsed sword, the paint on the sword handle, it’s rubbing off too easily and Rocky’s face. It is just a little too fat overall.

DURABILITY 4/5

The figure will have no issues holding up, the sword, If I take the sword out I might heat the hand up so I don’t lose any more paint on it.

OVERALL SCORE 4.4/5

The figure is just about perfect for me. I am happy to have a Rocky figure and very happy that the head fits on both the Blue Zeo Ranger and the Red MMPR figure.

RETAIL COST: $19.99

I picked mine up at my local Walmart
