Toying Around Reviews - Marvel Legends Captain Marvel Movie: Captain Marvel

Marvel Legends Captain Marvel Movie: Captain Marvel

Today we will be taking a look at Captain Marvel from the new Captain Marvel Kree Sentry Build-A-Figure movie line.

The Marvel Legends Series is a Mid-Tier toy line that both collectors and non-collectors alike would be interested in.  With multiple scales ranging from 4 inches to 12 inches and a good mix of detail and articulation, these figures tend to look good both inside and outside of the box.

Before we open this up, let's take a look at the packaging.

Captain Marvel comes packed in the stranded Marvel Legends Series box. You have the Legends Series logo at the top. Captain Marvel is clearly displayed in the middle through the large window that showcases the figure as well as her accessories. This gives great visibility for collectors that may not be opening it. On the bottom of the box, you have the Captain Marvel logo as this is a movie based figure. Below that, you have Captain Marvel’s name.

On the left side of the box, we get some nice promo work of Captain Marvel.

On the back of the box, you have a promo shot of Captain Marvel, and at the top a small bio. Carol Danvers becomes one of the universe’s most powerful heroes, Captain Marvel, when Earth is caught in the middle of a galactic war between two alien races. Below you have a picture of the Build-A-Figure as well as pictures of the rest of the figures in this wave.

#0 Captain Marvel, #1 Nick Fury, #2 Talos, #3 Captain Marvel (flight jacket), #4 Yon-Rogg, #5 Gray Gargoyle , #6 Genis-Vell

Flipping the box to the right side now, you see we get the same promo work of Captain Marvel that is on the left side.

Outside of the Box:

Let's open the box and take a closer look at the figure.

Taking Captain Marvel outside the box we get a really nice look at the metallic blues and reds they used on her. I do feel that this color really makes her pop and stand out a little from some of the other movie figures.

Let's see what kind of accessories the figure comes with.

Captain Marvel comes with an unhelmeted head and a pair of flight hands (you can’t see me)

How can we pose the figure? Let's find out!

Captain Marvel's articulation includes the following:

Hinged Ball Jointed Head - allows you to swivel the head 360-degrees and tilt the head back and forth.

Ball Hinged Shoulders - gives the arm 360-degree rotation and also the ability to raise and lower the arm.

Upper Bicep Swivel - This cut lets you turn the whole arm below the cut 360-degrees.

Single Jointed Elbows - this gets you just about a 90-degree bend.

Swivel Hinge Wrists - allows you to turn his wrists in a full 360-degree circle while also bending them up and down.

Upper Ab Swivel - this cut lets you be to rock the figure front and back and turn the upper half 360 degrees.

Ball Jointed Legs - with this it allows the legs to move out to the side along with some front and back motion.

Upper Thigh Swivel - the leg can rotate around a full 360 degrees.

Double Jointed Knees - joint allows you to bend the leg itself all the way back to the butt of the figure.

Hinged Ankles with rockers  - The ankle hinge allows you to bend the foot front and back. The rockers allow you to rock the ankles towards the outside and inside of the legs of the figure.

Size Comparison:

How does this figures size compare to others?

Captain Marvel (with helmet on) stands just a little under 6.5 inches tall

Here we have Captain Marvel standing with the comic book version of Captain Marvel that we got a few years ago.

Next we have Captain Marvel standing with her ‘buddy’ Iron Man and the Man of Steel

What are Baby Huey's scores for the figure?

Paint Job 5/5

The metallic red and blue paint really pop on this figure. it was a good choice.

Figure Sculpt / Posing 4/5

The lack of a ab crunch or double jointed elbows really hurts the figure from being a 5/5

Durability 4/5

I do wonder with the figure on how the single jointed elbows will hold up over time.

Overall Score 4.33/5

I really do like this figure, she is just a few little things away from being perferct.

Retail Cost: $19.99

i picked up my Captain Marvel figure up at my local Wal-Mart
