Toying Around Reviews - Marvel Legends Avengers Infinity War Iron Man

Marvel Legends:

Avengers Infinity War Iron Man

Today we will be taking a look at the Marvel Legends Iron Man from the Thanos Build-A-Figure Wave.

The Marvel Legends Series is a Mid-Tier toy line that both collectors and non-collectors alike would be interested in.  With multiple scales ranging from 4 inches to 12 inches and a good mix of detail and articulation, these figures tend to look good both inside and outside of the box

Packaging:

Before we open this up, let's take a look at the packaging.

Iron Man comes packed in the stranded Marvel Legends Series box. You have the Legends Series logo. Iron Man is clearly displayed in the middle through the large window that showcases the figure as well as his accessories. This gives great visibility for collectors that may not be opening it. On the bottom of the box, you have the Avengers Infinity War logo as this is a movie based figure. Below that, you have Iron Man’s name.

On the left side of the box, we get some nice artwork of Iron Man.

On the back of the box, you have a promo shot of the figure, and at the top a small bio. A sleek suit design and technological upgrades let Tony Stark gear up as the Armored Avenger, Iron Man. Below you have a picture of the Build-A-Figure as well as pictures of the rest of the figures in this wave.

#0 Iron Man, #1 Captain America, #2 Iron Spider, #3 Proxima Midnight, #4 Taskmaster, #5 Marvel's Songbird, #6 Serpent Society (King Cobra)

Flipping the box to the right side now, you see we get the same Iron Man artwork that is on the left side.

Outside of the Box:

Let's open the box and take a closer look at the figure.

Taking a look at Iron Man outside the box, the first thing you notice is the nice bright red color they used on him. It is a brighter red then they have used on any other movie Iron Man figures.

Accessories:

Let's see what kind of accessories the figure comes with.

Iron Man comes with an open right hand and fisted right hand. He also comes with two blast effects.

Articulation:

How can we pose the figure? Let's find out!

Iron Mans' articulation includes the following:

Hinged Ball Jointed Head - allows you to swivel the head 360-degrees and tilt the head back and forth.

Ball Hinged Shoulders - gives the arm 360-degree rotation and also the ability to raise and lower the arm.

Upper Bicep Swivel - This cut lets you turn the whole arm below the cut 360-degrees.

Double Jointed Elbows - this allows you to bend the arm back to have the hands near the shoulders.

Swivel Hinge Wrists (only on fist hands) - allows you to turn his wrists in a full 360-degree circle while also bending them up and down.

Torso Cut - this lets you be able to turn the figure around 360 degrees at the torso.

Ball Jointed Legs - with this it allows the legs to move out to the side along with some front and back motion.

Upper Thigh Swivel - the leg can rotate around a full 360 degrees.

Double Jointed Knees - joint allows you to bend the leg itself all the way back to the butt of the figure.

Hinged Ankles with rockers  - The ankle hinge allows you to bend the foot front and back. The rockers allow you to rock the ankles towards the outside and inside of the legs of the figure.

Size Comparison:

How does the size of this figure compare to others?

Iron Man stands right around 6-inches tall.

1st up we have Iron Man standing next to Black Panther from the Civil War line and Iron Spider from this new Infinity War line.

Next, we have Iron Man next to his armors from Avengers Age of Ultron and Civil War movies.

Rating:

What are Baby Huey's scores for the figure?

Paint Job 3/5

The paint job is good, not great on Iron Man, Hasbro missed a few spots here and there where they could have just added a dad more paint to make it look and feel like he came out of the movie.

Figure Sculpt 4/5

The sculpt of the figure was very well done. He would be perfect if he had some spots where they could have added extra weapons or the rocket boosters we see him use in the new trailer.

Posing / Durability 3/5

The big downside to the figure is he feels cheap. The chest feels very hollow. My figure itself also has a bad left arm and I feel like I'm going to break him trying to get the arm to move down.

Overall Score 3.33/5

If you are like me and need to get every iron man to make the hall of armor grow, then yes you have to pick him up, if you are just a so-so fan then he could easily be a pass for you.

Retail Cost: $19.99

I picked up my Iron Man figure at Toys R Us.
