Toying Around Reviews - DC Superhero Girls Wonder Woman
DC Superhero Girls - Wonder Woman
If you are not familiar with DC Super Hero Girls, it is a line done by DC and Mattel Toys that gear everything towards little girls. I personally feel like both DC and Mattel have knocked this one out of the park. This line has everything, Action Figures, Doll, Mobile Games, and even an Animated Tv show. You can check out the website for some more info, DC SUPER HERO GIRLS.
For this review, we will be looking at Wonder Woman from this DC Super Hero Girls line by Mattel.
Packaging:
Before we open this, let's take a look at the packaging.
Wonder Woman comes in the standard DC Super Hero Girls blister card packaging. You have a picture of Wonder Woman in the upper left hand of the box. On the blister itself, you have the DC Super Hero Girls logo on the left, with Wonder Woman herself displayed below. This gives great visibility for collectors that may not be opening it. On the bottom, you have the old DC comics logo (as this is a figure that was released before the new logo), and Wonder Woman's name to the right.
On the left side of the box, you can get a decent view of the figure on the side. This is another benefit to our friends that choose not to open the figure.
The back of the box gives you some more artwork of Wonder Woman, a little bio on her. On the bottom of the box, you get some promo images for other figures in the line (Batgirl and SuperGirl).
The right side of the box gives you another look at the Wonder Woman figure from the side.
Outside of the Box:
Let's open the box and take a closer look at Wonder Woman.
On first look at wonder woman outside the box you notice the dark purple they used for her hair instead of making it just straight black like in the comics, This color purple is also how she looks in the animated shorts the DC does.
The other thing you notice is the nice bright gold color they used on the figure. I think it really makes the figure pop.
Accessories:
Lets see what kind of accessories Wonder Woman come with.
The only accessorize Wonder Woman comes with is her Laos Of Truth.
Articulation:
How can we pose Wonder Woman? Lets find out!
Wonder Woman's articulation includes the following:
Mushroom Pegged Head - allows you to swivel the head 360 degrees (movement is hindered due to hair).
Ball Jointed Shoulders - gives the arm 360-degree rotation and also the ability to raise and lower the arm.
Singles Jointed Elbows - this allows for a 90-degree bend at the elbow.
Swivel Wrists - allows you to turn her wrists in a full 360-degree circle.
Hinged Legs - with this it allows the legs to move out to the side along with some front and back motion, however, due to the skirt, the limitation of this joint is very limited.
Single Jointed Knees - This joint, although limited, allows you to bend the knee to about 90 degrees.
Boot Cut - allows you to turn her boots in a full 360-degree circle.
Size Comparison:
How does this figures size compare to others?
1st we have Wonder Woman with The Marvel Legends All New and All Different Spider-Man and DC Multiverse Wonder Woman from her new movie.
Next as this Wonder Woman is to be a little bit younger we have her with the DC Multiverse Robin and the Marvel Legends Miles Spider-Man
Rating:
What are Baby Huey's scores for the figure?
Paint Job 4/5
For this being a figure geared and priced for younger kids, I have to say the paint on the figure is not bad at all. Every part of the figure is painted, with toys/figures made for younger kids you sometimes get some cost-cutting and the whole figure is not painted, Well not here.
Figure Sculpt 4/5
The over sculpt was done very nice, she looks like she jumped out of the cartoon.
Posing / Durability 1/5
Unfortunately, this is where the figure loses all the points. the joints on the figure are not tight at all. The plastic on the boots is very soft plastic and does not allow the figure to stand if you do get her to stand she will fall over in a minute or two. The had of the figure is another issue on mine. Not only is it hard to turn her head due to her hair being long but the peg inside the head feels like it is turning with the head and I worry about snapping it off if I keep trying to turn the head.
Overall Score 3/5
At the end of the day this is a figure made for kids, is it good for them? will they enjoy playing with it? Yes and Yes! My only real concern is that if you are going to give your kid this figure just be a way that the head may be breaking off due to the soft plastic used.
