Power Rangers Super Ninja Steel - Evil MMPR Red Ranger
Today we will be taking a look at the Evil MMPR Red Ranger from the Power Rangers Super Ninja Steel collection by Bandai.
This evil Red Ranger made his debut in the 25th-anniversary episode for Power Rangers titled Dimensions in Danger.
Before we open this up, let's take a look at the packaging.
Red Ranger comes in the new standard packaging for Power Rangers. On the left side, you have a look at the Ranger or Villain while on the right side it has the Power Rangers name along with the figure displayed. On the bottom, you have the series the figure is from (Super Ninja Steel) and next to that the name of the figure itself.
The side of the box doesn't really show off anything, no artwork and you can only see the top of the figure.
The back of the box shows us an action pose with the Evil Red Ranger fighting the Red Ninja Steel Ranger. Below you have some product pictures of vehicles and the rest of the Rangers and Villains you can collect.
The other side of the box has a more of a side view of the figure. This is a nice view that if you wanted to keep the figure in a box you can still look at it.
Outside of the Box:
Now that we have the figure outside the box lets take a closer look.
Taking the figure out of the box the 1st thing you notice the black armor, gloves, boots, and belt. I mean it can’t be a bad guy if he doesn’t have black on right? This is the same figure mold from the Red Ranger that was released during the Super Megaforce season.
Let's see what kind of accessories the figure comes with.
Red Ranger comes with his power sword and blade blaster in gun mode.
How can we pose the figure? Let's find out!
Red Ranger’s articulation includes the following:
Mushroom Jointed Head - allows you to turn the head 360-degrees.
Ball Hinged Shoulders - gives the arm 360-degree rotation and also the ability to raise and lower the arm.
Single Jointed Elbows - this allows you to bend the arms.
Glove Cut - allows you to turn his gloves in a full 360-degree circle.
Ball Jointed Legs - with this it allows the legs to move out to the side along with some front and back motion it is hindered by the costume a little bit.
Single Jointed Knees - joint allows you to bend the leg backward.
Boot Cut - This allows you to turn the boots in a full 360-degree circle.
How does this figures size compare to others?
Here is the Evil Red Ranger standing next to the Red Ranger that was released back in 2013.
Next, we have Evil Red Ranger standing next to some armored rangers, Green Ranger and Red Ranger.
What are Baby Huey's scores for the figure?
Paint Job 2/5
Paint is very minimal on the figure. some added silver on the new black parts would have been nice to match up with how it looked on the show.
Figure Sculpt 2/5
The sculpt is what it is, it is made for younger kids I understand that however, a little more added to the sculpt would go a long way.
Posing / Durability 2/5
Power Ranger figures have never had good articulation, it has gotten better over time but is still lacking. Hopefully, with Hasbro set to take over next year, we will see this change in the lower price point figures.
Overall Score 2/5
