DC MULTIVERSE: THE BATMAN WHO LAUGHS

Today we will be taking a look at the New DC Comics Multiverse The Batman Who Laughs. This year the Multiverse line of figures is made by McFarlane Toys and not Mattel.

The Batman Who Laughs made his debut in Dark Knights Metal. He is Batman from the Dark Multiverse who was exposed to the Joker token when Joker died in Batman’s arms.

PACKAGING:

Before we open this up, let's take a look at the packaging.

This new DC Comics Multiverse line of figures comes in what will be the standard box for the McFarlane made figures.

On the front of the box, we have a nice big window that lets us see the figure and everything he comes with. The top of the box lets us know that the figure has 22 points of articulation. The bottom of the box has the DC Multiverse logo as well as the Batman Who Laughs’ name.

Turning the box to the side we have the name of the figure, and where the inspiration for the figure came from.

The back of the box is a little different than most, we do not get a picture of the figure, but rather the artwork from where the inspiration came from. The same goes for the rest of the figures in the wave, we get the artwork, no figure pictures.

Turning the box around one more time we get a small window that lets us see the figure.

OUTSIDE OF THE BOX:

Let's open the box and take a closer look at the figure.

Taking The Batman Who Laughs out of the box, you get a good look at the little details they put on him. The little bits of silver all over his jacket. The red around his lips and all the little tiny molded details on him.

ARTICULATION:

How can we pose the figure? Let's find out!

BATMAN WHO LAUGHS’ ARTICULATION INCLUDES THE FOLLOWING:

BALL JOINTED NECK:

allows you to turn the head 360-degrees.

BUTTERFLY HING:

This allows you to move the shoulder area front and back to get a better range of motion. (hindered by the jacket)

BALL HINGED SHOULDERS:

Gives the arm 360-degree rotation and also the ability to raise and lower the arm.

UPPER BICEP SWIVEL:

This cut lets you turn the whole arm below the cut 360-degrees.

DOUBLE JOINTED ELBOWS:

This allows you to bend the arm over 90-degrees.

SWIVEL BALL HINGE WRISTS:

It allows you to turn his wrists in a full 360-degree circle while also bending them up and down.

DIAPHRAGM SWIVEL:

This lets you be able to turn the figure around 360 degrees at the diaphragm. (hindered by the jacket)

WAIST SWIVEL:

This lets you be able to turn the figure around 360 degrees at the waist. (hindered by the jacket)

HINGED JOINTED LEGS:

With this it allows the legs to move out to the side along with some front and back motion.

DOUBLE JOINTED KNEES:

The joint allows you to bend the leg itself back to the butt of the figure.

BALL JOINTED ANKLES:

The ankle hinge allows you to bend the foot front and back and also to the left and right.

TOE JOINT:

This allows you to bend the toes up so you can pose the figure a little better when making him look like he is running or walking.

What are Baby Huey's scores for the figure?

PAINT JOB 4/5

In the comics, The Batman Who Laughs wears a leather coat so it’s kind of hard to mess up that. All the little stitches and clips on the figure have silver paint and the mouth is painted very well. The only main issue I have is the hands, the paint seems to have just been thrown on. There is a lot of paint on the hands and they lose some of the sculpting details.

FIGURE SCULPT 5/5

The sculpt on the figure is very well done, McFarlane looks like he got all the details correct from what we see in the comics.

POSING 4/5

Posing the figure isn’t perfect. The Jacket hinders the arms a little bit, it also hurts the ab crunch that the figure has.

ACCESSORIES: 5/5

Batman Who Laughs comes with only two real accessories, but they are what he uses in the comics so I don’t know what else you would give him. Batman also comes with the driver side of the Batmobile.

DURABILITY 4/5

The main issue I have with the figure is the ball joints on the legs. They don’t hold the figure up very well. Trying to get him to stand for pictures can be a pain. Guess we know why they all come with a figure stand.
