Toying Around Reviews - Marvel Legends: Spider-Man 60th Anniversary - Japanese Spider-Man

Spider-Man 60th Anniversary:

Japanese Spider-Man

Today we are looking at Japanese Spider-Man from the Spider-Man 60th-anniversary line. This figure is based on the look of Spider-Man from the tv show back in 1978

The Marvel Legends Series is a lower-tier toy line that collectors and non-collectors alike would be interested in. This is an action figure line based on the characters of Marvel Comics, initially produced by Toy Biz, then by Hasbro. This line is in the 6-inch (150 mm) scale, with spin-off lines in the 4-inch (100 mm), 8-inch (200 mm), and 12-inch (300 mm) scale. these figures tend to look good inside and outside the box.

PACKAGING:

Before we open this up, let's take a look at the packaging.

Japanese Spider-Man comes packed in the new stranded Marvel Legends windowless box. The top of the box has the Marvel Legends logo and a picture of Spider-Man. Spider-Man’s name is right below it. A CG picture of Japanese Spider-Man is displayed in the middle with the Marvel Spider-Man logo right below it.

On the left side of the box, we get another CG picture of the Japanese Spider-Man.

On the back of the box, we have another CG picture of Japanese Spider-Man this time in an action pose. We also get a small picture of the accessories included with the figure.

Flipping the box to the right side now we get some artwork of Japanese Spider-Man.

OUTSIDE OF THE BOX:

Let's open the box and take a closer look at the figure.

Taking Japanese Spider-Man out of the box we can see how this Spider-Man figure looks a little bit different than most. The suit itself looks a little bit lose on him. I like this, as it makes it look like it did in the show, with a guy wearing a suit. I also really like the shiny white they used for the eyes. it really makes it pop. I also like the little detail of the web lines not matching up at the bottom of the neck. Makes it look like that’s where the mask line would be.

ACCESSORIES:

Let's see what kind of accessories the figure comes with.

JAPANESE SPIDER-MAN COMES WITH:

2Punches

Web line

2 Webs

ARTICULATION:

How can we pose the figure? Let's find out!

JAPANESE SPIDER-MAN’S ARTICULATION INCLUDES THE FOLLOWING:

BALL-HINGED JOINTED NECK:

allows you to turn the head 360 degrees.

BALL-HINGED SHOULDERS:

It gives the arm 360-degree rotation and also the ability to raise and lower the arm.

UPPER BICEP SWIVEL:

This cut lets you turn the whole arm below the cut 360 degrees.

DOUBLE-JOINTED PINLESS ELBOWS:

This allows you to bend the arm over 90 degrees.

BALL-HINGED SHOULDERS

Gives the arm 360-degree rotation and also the ability to raise and lower the arm.

SWIVEL HINGE WRISTS:

This allows you to turn his wrists in a full 360-degree circle while also bending them up and down

AB CRUNCH:

This cut lets you be able to bend the figure front and back at the Abs.

WAIST SWIVEL

This lets you be able to turn the figure around 360 degrees at the waist.

BALL JOINTED LEGS:

With this it allows the legs to move out to the side along with some front and back motion.

UPPER THIGH SWIVEL:

The leg can rotate around a full 360 degrees.

DOUBLE-JOINTED PINLESS KNEES:

The joint allows you to bend the leg itself back to the butt of the figure.

HINGED ANKLES WITH ROCKERS:

The ankle hinge allows you to bend the foot front and back. The rockers will enable you to rock the ankles towards the outside and inside of the legs of the figure.

SIZE COMPARISON:

How does the size of this figure compare to others?

Japanese Spider-Man stands right at 6.5 inches tall

Here he is next to Retro Card Spider-Man, Far From Home Spider-Man, and the new Renew your Vows Spider-Man.

RATING:

What are Baby Huey's scores for the figure?

PAINT JOB 5/5

The paint job on this guy is very nicely done. I also love the added touch of the web lines not touching at the next to make it look like it is a mask he is wearing.

FIGURE SCULPT 5/5

The sculpting of the figure is perfect. Does make it look like a guy wearing a suit.

POSING 4/5

The lack of a butterfly joint really hurts to get him in the pose he does in the show with his arms crossing his body.

ACCESSORIES: 4/5

Would have liked some gripping hands so he could hold the web line.

DURABILITY 5/5

Plastic is excellent on this figure, no worries at all.

OVERALL SCORE 4.6/5

I really do like this Spider-Man figure. It is nice to add him to the collection.

RETAIL COST: $27.99

I picked up mine from HASBRO.
