Toying Around Reviews - Marvel Legends Retro 3.75 inch: Iron Man

Marvel Legends Retro 3.75 inch

Iron Man

Today we will be taking a look at Iron Man from the new 3.75 inch Marvel Legends line. This new line is more of a throwback/what-if line to see what could have been if Kenner had the Marvel line back in the 80s/90s.

The Marvel Legends Series is a lower-tier toy line that both collectors and non-collectors alike would be interested in. This is an action figure line based on the characters of Marvel Comics, initially produced by Toy Biz, then by Hasbro. This line is in the 6-inch (150 mm) scale, with spin-off lines in the 4-inch (100 mm), 8-inch (200 mm), and 12-inch (300 mm) scale. these figures tend to look good inside and outside the box.

PACKAGING:

Before we open this up, let's take a look at the packaging.

All the figures in this new 3.75-inch line come in on a blister card. Iron Man’s card has the Marvel Legends logo at the top left, while the Invincible Iron Man logo is just below that on the left side of the card. a very 80s style artwork of Iron Man takes up the rest of the card back on the right side. Iron Man himself can be seen in the blister bubble.

Turning the card to the side we can get a good look at Iron Man.

on the back of the card, we get the same Iron Man artwork that you can cut out for a collector card, along with a small bio. A GENIUS MIND AND SUIT OF ARMOR MAKE TONY STARK A REAL CHARMER, STOPPING THE VILLAINS WHERE THEY LAND AS THE INVINCIBLE IRON MAN!

On the other side of the card, we again see Iron Man from the side. These side views are helpful for any collector that wishes to keep his figure mint on the card.

OUTSIDE OF THE BOX:

Let's open the box and take a closer look at the figure.

Taking Iron Man off the card we can see that overall the figure is well made. There isn’t much paint on the figure, but I wouldn’t expect much on a figure whose colors are just red and yellow

ACCESSORIES:

NONE!

ARTICULATION:

How can we pose the figure? Let's find out!

IRON MAN’S ARTICULATION INCLUDES THE FOLLOWING:

MUSHROOM PEGGED NECK

allows you to turn the head 360-degrees.

MUSHROOM PEGGED SHOULDERS

This gives the arm 360-degree rotation.

SWIVEL BALL HINGE WRISTS

This allows you to turn his wrists a full 360-degree around.

MUSHROOM PEGGED LEGS

This allows the legs to move back and forth

SIZE COMPARISON:

How does the size of this figure compare to others?

Iron Man stands right at 3.75 inches tall

Here is Iron Man standing next to the Marvel Legends 80th Anniversary Iron Man and the Marvel Universe 3.75 Iron Man.

RATING:

What are Baby Huey's scores for the figure?

PAINT JOB 4/5

The little bit of paint on the figure is well done, however a little bit of extra paint here and there would have made this figure just go the extra mile.

FIGURE SCULPT 4/5

The sculpt of the figure is nice. It does look like Iron Man

POSING 2/5

Now I do understand that this figure is made to look like he was made in the 80s/90s when we didn’t have much articulation, however, you did add in the twists for the gloves so I don’t see why you didn’t also do that with the boots.

ACCESSORIES: 0/5

none!

DURABILITY 2/5

The plastic on the legs is very gummy like and I do feel like over time this will hurt the figure from standing.

OVERALL SCORE 2.4/5

The figures are a nice throwback but these might be better to keep mint on the card.

RETAIL COST: $9.99

I picked mine up from HASBRO PULSE
