Toying Around Reviews - Marvel Legends Erik Killmonger

Marvel Legends: Erik Killmonger

Today we will be taking a look at Erick Killmonger from the Black Panther Movie Okoye Build-A-figure wave.

The Marvel Legends Series is a Mid-Tier toy line that both collectors and non-collectors alike would be interested in.  With multiple scales ranging from 4 inches to 12 inches and a good mix of detail and articulation, these figures tend to look good both inside and outside of the box

Packaging:

Before we open this up, let's take a look at the packaging.

Erik Killmonger comes packed in the stranded Marvel Legends Series box. You have the Okoye wave logo at the top with the Legends Series logo displayed right below. Killmonger is clearly displayed in the middle through the large window that showcases the figure as well as his accessories. This gives great visibility for collectors that may not be opening it. On the bottom of the box, you have the Invincible Iron Man logo as this is a comic book based figure.

On the left side of the box, we get some nice artwork of Killmonger.

On the back of the box, you have a promo shot of the figure at the top with a small bio. A warrior of physical and mental strength, Erik Killmonger slashes into battle with unrivaled intensity. On the bottom, you have a look at the completed Build-A-Figure and a list of all the figures you need to complete the figure.

#1 Black Panther, #2 Erik Killmonger, #3 Nakia, #4 Black Bolt, #5 Sub-Mariner, #6 Iron Man

it is worth to note that Iron Man is the only figure in this wave that does not come with a Build-A-Figure piece

Flipping the box to the right side now, you see we get the same Killmonger artwork that is on the left side.

Outside of the Box:

Let's open the box and take a closer look at the figure.

at first look at Killmonger outside the box, you can notice how the costume is very similar to Black Panther, but when you get in closer you can see that the figure itself does have a gold wash over it, along with some jaguar spots throughout the body. It does give it a very nice look overall.

Accessories:

Let's see what kind of accessories the figure comes with.

First Erick comes with the build-a-figure piece to Okoye

next we have two extra hands, one a right gripping hand and a left claw hand. both opposite from what the figure comes packed with. Erick also comes with two weapons.

Articulation:

How can we pose the figure? Let's find out!

Erik Killmonger's articulation includes the following:

Hinged Ball Jointed Head - allows you to swivel the head 360-degrees and tilt the head back and forth.

Butterfly Joint - This joint allows you to swing the arm back and forth.

Ball Hinged Shoulders - gives the arm 360-degree rotation and also the ability to raise and lower the arm.

Upper Bicep Swivel - This cut lets you turn the whole arm below the cut 360-degrees.

Double Jointed Elbows - this allows you to bend the arm back to have the hands near the shoulders.

Swivel Hinge Wrists - allows you to turn his wrists in a full 360-degree circle while also bending them up and down.

Ab Crunch - this cut lets you be able to bend the figure front and back at the Abs.

Waist Swivel - this lets you be able to turn the figure around 360 degrees at the waist.

Ball Jointed Legs - with this it allows the legs to move out to the side along with some front and back motion.

Upper Thigh Swivel - the leg can rotate around a full 360 degrees.

Double Jointed Knees - joint allows you to bend the leg itself all the way back to the butt of the figure.

Hinged Ankles with rockers  - The ankle hinge allows you to bend the foot front and back. The rockers allow you to rock the ankles towards the outside and inside of the legs of the figure.

Size Comparison:

How does this figures size compare to others?

Erik Killmonger stands right around 6 inches tall.

Here we have Killmonger standing with Black Panther from the Marvel Legends Civil War line.

Next, we have one of Killmonger's wave mates, The Invincible Iron Man.

Rating:

What are Baby Huey's scores for the figure?

Paint Job 5/5

The paint job on Erik Killmonger is amazing, from the gold wash over the figure to the jaguar spots throughout the figure.

Figure Sculpt 5/5

Hasbro took a good Black Panther mold from the Civil War and made it 10x's better. not much more to say.

Posing / Durability 5/5

The increased articulation they give Killmonger makes him stand with all the poses you can get him.

Overall Score 5/5

How Killmonger is made is what I wish every Marvel Legends figure would have. There really isn't a pose you can not get him into.
