Toying Around Reviews - DC Multiverse Aquaman Movie Black Manta

DC Multiverse Aquaman Movie Black Manta

Today we are taking a look at Black Manta from the DC Multiverse Collect and Connect Trench Warrior figure.

This Black Manta figure is based on how he is took look in the upcoming Aquaman movie.

Packaging:

Before we open this up, let's take a look at the packaging.

Black Manta comes in the new standard blue and black packaging that we now see with all the Multiverse figures. You have the Collect and Connect logo at the top left. Below that you have the figures name along with the Aquaman Movie Logo, to let you know this is a Movie figure. The figure is displayed in the middle with his accessories displayed for you to see. To the left of that, you have an image of Black Manta from the movie. On the bottom of the box, we have the DC logo along with the Multiverse logo.

The left side of the box shows the same Black Manta image that we see on the front of the box.

Turning the box to the back we have a nice view of the whole wave with yet another picture of Black Manta from the movie.

Moving the box around once more to the right side, we have that same Black Manta picture.

Outside of the Box:

Let's open the box and take a closer look at the figure.

Taking Black Manta out of the box we can see all the detail they have put into the figure. There is not one part of this figure that doesn’t have some kind of molded detail. it’s nice to see since this figure is just black plastic with a hint of grey on it and some red paint.

Accessories:

Let's see what kind of accessories the figure comes with.

Black Manta comes with his sword and the head and body for the collect and connect figure.

Articulation:

How can we pose the figure? Let's find out!

Black Manta's articulation includes the following:

Hinged Ball Jointed Head - allows you to swivel the head 360-degrees and tilt the head back and forth.

Ball Hinged Shoulders - gives the arm 360-degree rotation and also the ability to raise and lower the arm.

Upper Bicep Swivel - This cut lets you turn the whole arm below the cut 360-degrees.

Double Jointed Elbows - this allows you to bend the arm back to have the hands near the shoulders.

Swivel Hinge Wrists - allows you to turn his wrists in a full 360-degree circle while also bending them up and down.

Ab Crunch - this cut lets you be able to bend the figure front and back at the Abs.

Waist Swivel - this lets you be able to turn the figure around 360 degrees at the waist.

Ball Jointed Legs - with this it allows the legs to move out to the side along with some front and back motion.

Upper Thigh Swivel - the leg can rotate around a full 360 degrees.

Double Jointed Knees - joint allows you to bend the leg itself all the way back to the butt of the figure.

Hinged Ankles with rockers  - The ankle hinge allows you to bend the foot front and back. The rockers allow you to rock the ankles towards the outside and inside of the legs of the figure.

Black Manta stands at 6.5 inches tall.

Here we have Black Manta standing next to Aquaman from this same wave and Marvel Legends Namor.

Rating:

What are Baby Huey's scores for the figure?

Paint Job 4/5

It’s hard to knock this figure for not having much paint since he is just a black-suited figure. It would have been nice if the little bit of red paint they used on the figure was a shiny red to help set off the flat black/grey that the figure is molded in.

Figure Sculpt 5/5

The sculpt of the figure is spot on to how he looks in the movie. There is not one spot on this figure that doesn’t have any detail.

Posing / Durability 5/5

Mattel has stepped on the game on there end on articulation. You can get him in just any position you want.

Overall Score 4.66/5

Highly recommend this figure.

Retail Cost: $19.99

I picked up my Black Manta figure at my local WALMART.
