Toying Around Reviews - Marvel Legends Homemade Suit Spider-Man

Marvel Legends - Spider-Man Homecoming Homemade Suit Spider-Man

Today we will be taking a look at the Homemade Suit Spider-Man from the new Spider-Man Homecoming Movie.

The Marvel Legends Series is a Mid-Tier toy line that both collectors and non-collectors alike would be interested in.  With multiple scales ranging from 4 inches to 12 inches and a good mix of detail and articulation, these figures tend to look good both inside and outside of the box.

If you are not familiar with this look for Spider-Man, this is the costume Peter Parker was using before Tony Stark came to him in the Captain America Civil War Movie and upgraded his look.

SPIDER-MAN HOMECOMING is in Theaters now!

Packaging:

Before we open this, let's take a look at the packaging.

Spider-Man comes packed in the stranded Marvel Legends Series box. You have the Vulture wave logo at the top with the Legends Series logo displayed right below. Spider-Man is clearly displayed in the middle through a large window that showcases the figure as well as her accessories.  This gives great visibility for collectors that may not be opening it. On the bottom of the box, you have the Spider-Man Homecoming logo as this is a movie based figure.

On the left side of the box, we get some nice art work of Spider-Man in his Stark Tech suit.

On the back of the box, you have a promo shot of the figure at the top with a small bio. Below you have a picture of the Vulture Build-A-Figure (Wing) as well as pictures of the rest of the figures in this wave.

#1 Spider-Man, #2 Spider-Man (Homemade Suit), #3 Moon Knight, #4 Cosmic Spider-Man, #5 Tombstone, #6 Beetle, #7 Vulture

Flipping the box to the right side now you see we get the same Spider-Man art work that is on the left side.

Outside of the Box:

Let's open the box and take a closer look at Spider-Man.

When you 1st look at Spider-Man you can clearly see that the suit is inspired by the Ben Reilly Scarlet Spider suit from the 90s.

Accessories:

Lets see what kind of accessories Spider-Man come with.

Spider-Man comes with a hood that is up, a flip hand for the right hand and fist hand for the right as the figure comes in the package with the opposite already attached.

He also comes with a part for the right-wing of the Vulture's Build-A-Wing

Articulation:

How can we pose Spider-Man? Let's find out!

Spider-Man's articulation includes the following:

Hinged Ball Jointed Head - allows you to swivel the head 360 degrees and tilt the head back and forth.

Ball Hinged Shoulders - gives the arm 360-degree rotation and also the ability to raise and lower the arm.

Double Jointed Elbows - this allows you to bend the arm back to have the hands near the shoulders.

Swivel Hinge Wrists - allows you to turn his wrists in a full 360-degree circle while also bending them up and down.

Ab Crunch - this cut lets you be able to bend the figure front and back at the Abs.

Waist Swivel - this lets you be able to turn the figure around 360 degrees at the waist.

Ball Jointed Legs - with this it allows the legs to move out to the side along with some front and back motion.

Upper Thigh Swivel - the leg can rotate around a full 360 degrees.

Double Jointed Knees - joint allows you to bend the leg itself all the way back to the butt of the figure.

Hinged Ankles with rockers  - The ankle hinge allows you to bend the foot front and back. The rockers allow you to rock the ankles towards the outside and inside of the legs of the figure.

Size Comparison:

How does this figures size compare to others?

This Spider-Man stands just a little under 6 inches tall.

for size comparison, we have Spider-Man standing with the Civil War Spider-Man that we got from the Civil War 3 pack, and The Shocker.

next, we have Spider-Man standing with the Scarlet Spider and his Movie buddy Civil War Iron Man

lastly we have him standing with the All-New All-Different Spider-man from the Spider-Man/MJ two pack and the Flash from the DC Multiverse line

Rating:

What are Baby Huey's scores for the figure?

Paint Job 3/5

overall not much paint on the figure aside from the white in his eyes, the black spider on the chest and the hands. For my figure, the flesh color paint for the fingers on the hands could have used a 2nd coat of paint. The black is coming through a little bit

Figure Sculpt 3/5

Overall the figure sculpt is very well done, Hasbro has more or less nailed down the smaller body mold for the younger heroes, however, I would have liked to see the butterfly joint on the figure. The Stark Tech figure has it so why couldn't they have given it to this figure

Posing / Durability 4/5

As stated before a butterfly joint would have made this figure a 5/5 very easily

Overall Score 3.33/5

I do love this figure and very happy to have him in my collection, as he was hard to find. the only other figure in the wave that is harder to find is Moon Knight and I know Mr. Maurer is not happy about that #wompwomp.

Retail Cost: $19.99
