Toying Around Reviews - Marvel Legends 3.75 inch Moon Knight

Marvel Legends 3.75 inch Series

Moon Knight

For today's review we will be taking a look at Moon Knight from the 3.75 inch Marvel Legends Series Line.

The 3.75 inch line is geared to the fan and collector who want to see their favorite hero or villain at a scale that fits in more with the smaller lines like G.I. Joe

Packaging:

Moon Knight comes in the standard 3.75 inch blister card packaging.

On the front you have the Marvel Legends series logo at the top left with some nice artwork of Moon Knight to the right.  Moon Knight himself is clearly displayed in the middle from within the blister bubble. Towards the bottom of the packaging you have Moon Knights name displayed.

The sides of the blister card show Moon Knight so if you are not going to be opening him up you can get a nice look at him.

The back of the box has a promo picture of Moon Knight and a quick bio about him. A Vision in an Egyptian temple leads Marc Spector to don a silver shroud and become the crime-fighting hero, Moon Knight.

Below you can see the rest of the figures listed in this wave of figures.  #1 Iron Man, #2 Lady Deadpool, #3 Spider-UK, #4 Moon Knight, #5 Wolverine (X23), #6 Maestro

Outside of the Box:

At first look right out of the box you notice the pearlized white they used for the chest armor and the way they sculpted the plastic one the hood and cape to make it look like fabric.

Unfortunately for us ours had a few QC (Quality Control) issues. The paint was messy around the fingers and on the moons on the inside of the arms. There was also some black paint that we could not get off on the left side of the hood.

Accessories:

NONE!

Moon Knight doesn't come with any accessories at all!

Articulation:

Moon Knights articulation includes the following:

Mushroom Pegged Head - allows you to swivel the head 360 degrees.

Ball Jointed Shoulders - gives the arm 360 degree rotation and also the ability to raise and lower the arm. Arm is hindered a little do the moons over his shoulders.

Singles Jointed Elbows - this allows for a 90 degree bend at the elbow.

Ball Jointed Legs - this allows you to swing the legs front and back and out to the side.

Double Jointed Knees - joint allows you bend the leg itself all the way back, up towards the butt of the figure.

Ankle Rockers - with this joint you can move the leg of the figure so you can get the feet as flat as possible when spreading the legs out.

Size Comparison:

Moon Knight stands at 4.5"tall. For size comparison we have the first Moon Knight 3.75" figure that was released back in 2009 when the line was dubbed Marvel Universe.

Rating:

What are Baby Huey's scores for the figure?

Paint Job: 2/5

The paint on Moon Knight is very hit or miss. Spots like the legs and body of the figure are perfect, but then spots like the fingers on the hands are bad. It looks like they tried to squeeze paint into a spot that they know wouldn't fit, yet did it anyway.

Figure Sculpt: 3/5

The sculpt work on the figure is very nice. The logo on the chest plate is perfect and I really do like how they tried to make the cape and hood look like fabric. Only thing that knocked a few points off for me was the head, something just looks off about it. Maybe having a head with a real hood that went over it would have looked better.

Posing / Durability: 1/5

I would have preferred a little more articulation with this figure. Some double jointed elbows and a upper bicep swivel would have done wonders for this figure.

This Moon Knight also has very soft knee joints and that made it very hard to pose the figure to take pictures.

Overall Score/Final Thoughts: 2.5/5

I really wanted to like this figure, however the QC issues with the legs and paint make it a little hard to like. Trying to get him to stand was a pain in the butt. If you are looking to pick up Moon Knight he might look better staying in package. If you want to open him you might want to have a display stand for him or he will keep falling over on you.

Retail Cost:

$9.99
